I run a nurse led clinic for Testosterone replacement. This includes initial patient education and ongoing monitoring of therapy and then transfer to primary health providers.
A case presentation of a patient on Testosterone therapy. The focus is on Patient education for Reandron and using a quality of life tool to give structure to the education and monitoring.
The presentation would also discuss from my general experience, how using this tool to give structure to the education has been useful in identifying and addressing sensitive issues eg, acohol and domestic abuse, aggression, sexual dysfunction, relational considerations. Monitoring the effect of testosterone therapy on physical and social aspects of patient's lives.
In conclusion from a nursing perspective the aim is not to increase the risk of harm to the patient and their quality of life by administering testosterone. I believe this has to be addressed at the initial process of patient education and the opportunity for the patient to identify their quality of life.
