Suzie Rhydderch

Suzie works with The Butterfly Foundation as the Research Officer for the National Eating Disorders Collaboration (NEDC) – a voluntary collaboration of key stakeholders with an interest in Eating Disorders who have come together to develop a nationally consistent approach to the prevention, early intervention and management of these complex illnesses. In addition to her role in research, Suzie works alongside the clinical staff at Butterfly to help facilitate the support groups which have been set up for carers and those with a lived experience of an eating disorder. After completing her Honours in Psychology under the supervision of Dr Elizabeth Rieger in 2007, Suzie worked as a Research Assistant on Sarah Maguire’s Staging Anorexia Nervosa study. This involved managing patient recruitment and conducting structured questionnaires at Wesley Private Hospital, Sydney and St George’s University Hospital, London. For three years, Suzie combined European travels with her work experience in London, before returning home to begin her Masters in Clinical Psychology, alongside her work at The Butterfly Foundation. With her training in research and interest in learning the clinical skills required to practice, Suzie is passionate about providing access to information and services to alleviate some of the impact these serious illnesses have on individuals and their family.
